Temple Shalom embarks on fund-raising drive for construction of new Temple of Peace
"A Temple of Peace" is the name of the project for Temple Shalom's planned new community center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. As of February 1, 2007, over half of the total capital campaign of $1.2-million dollars has been raised through donations and pledges. This new facility will serve the Jewish community of Fayetteville and N.W. Arkansas, and act as a community resource center for residents and University of Arkansas students of all faiths.
While building the new walls of the temple, a unique community partnership will build a bridge of hope as well. Fadil Bayyari, a Palestinian Muslim and Springdale, Arkansas, general contractor, has agreed to donate his services to build the first temple ever in the Fayetteville, Arkansas, area. Demonstrating the positive side of Muslim-Jewish relations is important locally and internationally. "We are all children of God, when you look at it", Bayyari stated with enthusiasm and resolve. Our capital campaign will offer a variety of ways to help us realize our dream.
To complete the fundraising drive, Temple Shalom is seeking the help of residents, community leaders and donors to reach our goal by the end of summer. Your contribution of any amount will help us achieve the dream of a Jewish community center and Temple in N.W. Arkansas, enhancing the diversity and cultural opportunities of this growing region.
Giving levels starting at $2,500 bestow an honor of either a Yahrzeit Plaque or Tree of Life Leaf.
Please use the donation shopping cart to make a gift today! You will receive a tax-deductible receipt via email for your donation, due to Temple Shalom's 501 (C)(3) tax exempt status.
SPECIAL DESIGNATION GIFTS: For gifts in excess of $250, Temple Shalom will provide special credit and acknowledgment, proportional to the amount of your gift, contact Ralph H. Nesson at 479-444-1412 or email at: rnesson@jtlshop.jonesnet.org for more information.
